In the year 1939, Shri Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya started two sugar factories – one in Sakarwadi and second in Laxmiwadi to mark the launch of his own sugar business. He soon came to be known as the “Sugar King of India”. It was the vision of Shri K J Somaiya that modern professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture.
For the children of sugar factory workers, he established Somaiya Vidyamandir, Sakarwadi in the year 1959, and the Educational Officer of Zilla Parishad, Ahmednagar granted permission for the classes of Std. 8th to 10th on 2nd March 1960. This was the first school in Sakarwadi and in the surrounding areas, which provides educational facilities to the nearby villages like Wari, Kanhegaon, Hanumanwadi, Sade, Bhojade, Dhotre, etc.
