In the year 1939, Shri Karamshi Jethabhai Somaiya started two sugar factories – one in Sakarwadi and second in Laxmiwadi to mark the launch of his own sugar business. He soon came to be known as the “Sugar King of India”. It was the vision of Shri K J Somaiya that modern professional education must remain true to the spirit of Indian ethos and culture.
